The first quarter of 2026 has produced more announced streaming deals for Egyptian cinema than the entirety of 2025.
Netflix MENA confirmed its multi-title deal with Synergy in March, while Shahid VIP renewed with iProductions on a slate covering both drama and reality.
What's new this year: Watch It, MBC's local-first platform, has begun signing direct-to-platform film deals with smaller production houses — a route that previously didn't exist for indie filmmakers.
For talent and crew, this means three things. First, more shooting days. Second, longer commitments — series are eating into film schedules. Third, more verifiable credits, which matter when a casting office filters by reel.
